Day 1 Gauteng, Mokala NP
We depart Johannesburg enroute to the breathtaking Mokala National Park which spans over 26,000 hectares, the reserve offers a diverse landscape of rolling hills, savannah and grasslands. Renowned for its rich biodiversity, Mokala is home to an array of iconic African wildlife, including black rhino, roan antelope, and endangered Cape buffalo.
Day 2 Mokala NP
We start the day with a game drive in Mokala National Park followed by a visit to The Big Hole in Kimberley which stands as a remarkable testament to the city's diamond mining history. Dug by hand over a century ago, this colossal excavation bears testament to the diamond rush.
Day 3 Mokala NP
We start the day with a game drive in Mokala National Park followed by a visit to the Magersfontein battlefield which holds significant historical importance as the site of a pivotal battle in 1899 during the Anglo-Boer War in South Africa. Today, the Magersfontein battlefield is a solemn memorial and heritage site, where visitors can explore the trenches, view historical artefacts, and gain insights into the devastating consequences of war.
Day 4 Mokala NP, Augrabies Falls NP
After a hearty breakfast we set off for Augrabies National Park where we will be spending the next few nights. Know as the place of great noise, the park encompasses 82 000 hectares and stretches along the Orange River.
Day 5 Augrabies Falls NP
We begin our day with a game drive in the beautiful Augrabies National Park before our exciting afternoon excursion to the awe-inspiring Augrabies Falls and a walk to Moon Rock. With a height of around 56 meters the falls showcase the power and beauty of the Orange River as it plunges into a deep granite gorge.
Day 6 Augrabies Falls NP
We enjoy another morning drive in Augrabies National Park and then adventure to Riemvasmaak where we will spend time exploring the rugged landscapes, natural hot springs, geological formations and fascinating culture of the people who call this arid area home.
Day 7 Augrabies Falls NP, Kgalagadi TP
After breakfast we set off to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - a vast and captivating wilderness spanning the borders of South Africa and Botswana. The reserve encompasses some 3.8 million hectares. The park is located in the Kalahari desert and consists of sand dunes, sparse vegetation and dry riverbeds.
Day 8 Kgalagadi TP
The morning starts off with a game drive in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and a visit to the Auchterlonie Museum - an old stone and grass thatch cottage built at the start of the first world war to house troops watching over a borehole nearby.
Day 9 Kgalagadi TP
A full day exploration of the majestic Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in search of the iconic Kalahari lions and large migratory herds of wildebeest, springbok, eland and red hartebeest. More than 200 species of birds can also be found.
Day 10 Kgalagadi TP, Vryburg
After breakfast we start our return to Gauteng and sleepover outside Vryburg.
Day 11 Vryburg, Gauteng
After a hearty breakfast we start our return to Gauteng
